Tour highlights
Are you wondering about something?
If you're planning a trip to Iceland, it's important to be prepared with the right information. Here are some frequently asked questions (FAQs) to help you plan your trip
We can offer a Dietary Supplement on tour; this is available for a fee and can be booked during the checkout process. If you have not added this during the original booking process, you can add it up to 10 days before the tour start date.
Unfortunately, we cannot provide gluten-free items such as bread or snacks, but you are more than welcome to bring your own on tour.
We provide a full packing list that includes information about layers, waterproofs, footwear, and other recommended or optional items. For your safety, we recommend aqua shoes over plastic or open-toe sandals as we cross rivers.
To train for this tour, we highly recommend taking regular hikes in your local area, especially in places where the route includes both uphill and downhill segments, as well as uneven terrain. It's beneficial to carry some weight on your back during these hikes to simulate the conditions you'll experience on the tour.
Begin with shorter walks and progressively increase their length to build the endurance needed for the longer hiking days you'll encounter during the tour.
Incorporating both low aerobic and aerobic training will help you build the strength and endurance required for longer hikes.
Lastly, it's crucial to train in the boots you plan to wear on the tour. Ensure they are well broken-in and comfortable to prevent blisters and discomfort during your trip.
This is not suited to beginner trekkers as this is mountainous terrain with 6-7 hour of hiking per day. We recommend this for hikers who are physically active with previous basic trekking experience.
We recommend bringing a waterproof duffel bag or similar, with a maximum weight of 18 kg. This is because the transport vehicles will be crossing rivers and have limited storage capacity. The huts along the route also offer limited space for storing luggage. In addition to your main bag, you'll need a day backpack and essentials for the daily treks.
Sleeping bags are required on the tour as you are staying in dormitory style huts on tour. You can rent one if preferred, by adding this during the checkout process. If you forgot to add this when you originally booked, please let us know and we can add this for you.
You can bring your phone and camera on tour; we would note that reception can be patchy on the trail and the huts do not have wi-fi connectivity. Our guides are equipped with safety equipment to call for help if needed.
Power outlet charging is not available in huts; if you want to charge your phone or camera, please bring a power bank or portable charger with you.
