Iceland's ultimate hiking adventure awaits.
The popular Laugavegur hiking route from the Landmannalaugar region to the Þórsmörk area is a 56-kilometre (35-mile) multi-day hike that attracts backpackers and hikers worldwide. If you’re coming to Iceland to hike just one trail, this is the one. Its popularity stems from various landscapes: bubbling hot springs, vast glaciers, beautiful mountains, stunning waterfalls, and roaring rivers.
Landmannalaugar is a major hub for hikers, and for very good reason—several well-maintained trails throughout the region range from day hikes to multi-day treks. The landscape is one of wonder, with vast valleys, colourful rhyolite mountains, hot springs, and riverbanks. Trekking in the southern highlands, from the geothermal hot spots in Landmannalaugar to the lush green landscape in Þórsmörk, is even more beautiful in person.
During this adventure, your experienced and knowledgeable hiking guide will take you in between vibrant yellow rhyolite mountains, over black sand deserts, and past majestic canyons. The diverse landscape and the long, bright Icelandic summer days will capture your nature-loving heart.
Your guide will show you all the famous sites and hidden gems along this trail and tell you stories and folklore. In the evenings, you will relax, rejuvenate in cosy mountain huts, and enjoy delicious Icelandic meals. We top off this fantastic adventure with a celebratory BBQ on the last night in Þórsmörk. It’s not a coincidence that National Geographic named this trail one of the 20 best treks in the world.

Tour highlights
Are you wondering about something?
If you're planning a trip to Iceland, it's important to be prepared with the right information. Here are some frequently asked questions (FAQs) to help you plan your trip
This is not suited to beginner trekkers as this is mountainous terrain with 6-7 hour of hiking per day. We recommend this for hikers who are physically active with previous basic trekking experience.
We provide a full packing list that includes information about layers, waterproofs, footwear, and other recommended or optional items. For your safety, we recommend aqua shoes over plastic or open-toe sandals as we cross rivers.
We recommend bringing a waterproof duffel bag or similar, with a maximum weight of 18 kg. This is because the transport vehicles will be crossing rivers and have limited storage capacity. The huts along the route also offer limited space for storing luggage. In addition to your main bag, you'll need a day backpack and essentials for the daily treks.
Sleeping bags are required on the tour as you are staying in dormitory style huts on tour. You can rent one if preferred, by adding this during the checkout process. If you forgot to add this when you originally booked, please let us know and we can add this for you.
You can bring your phone and camera on tour; we would note that reception can be patchy on the trail and the huts do not have wi-fi connectivity. Our guides are equipped with safety equipment to call for help if needed.
Power outlet charging is not available in huts; if you want to charge your phone or camera, please bring a power bank or portable charger with you.
