No technical requirements are needed for the tour as an experienced glacier guide will teach you how to use basic glacier equipment, such as crampons and an ice axe which are provided for all our glacier walk tours. The unique experience of a glacier walk on one of the many retreating glaciers of the world is sure to leave lasting memories Because of changes in landscape at Sólheimajökull glacier we have combined the old Blue ice Adventure and Sólheimajökull Exploration into the Sólheimajökull Glacier Walk. On this tour, weather conditions can be quite changeable, so it's smart to be ready for whatever comes your way. In Iceland, summers typically average around 13 degrees Celsius (55.4 Fahrenheit), but when you're up in the mountains, it can feel cooler, especially with the wind. That's why it's important to pack plenty of layers. Start with a good base layer, preferably made of merino wool—it's great for soaking up moisture and keeping you warm. Then, add on a layer that's both breathable and insulating, topped with something windproof and waterproof for extra protection. And don't forget your hats and gloves to keep your head and hands cozy. Lastly, toss some snacks and water into a lightweight backpack to stay fueled and hydrated while exploring.
Wearing sturdy boots that support your ankles is key for navigating varied terrain safely. Additionally, bringing along hiking poles can be helpful for maintaining balance, especially on uneven paths.
You will find the meeting location GPS coordinates on your voucher. Some meeting points don't have traditional address as we meet at a parking lot or a mountain base camp.
